Voices Upon the Canvas
Voices Upon the Canvas
Date of exhibition: 2025 15 Oct.~2026 12 Jan.

About the Exhibition
In this era of rapid technological expansion,
where reality and illusion intertwine, and life moves at an unrelenting pace,
I use my brush to capture the amusing moments around me.
Through simple lines, unadorned compositions, and lively blocks of color, combined with touches of geometric, modern comic style, I paint humor, I paint childlike wonder.
I hope these creations allow you to slow down, to sense the atmosphere within the paintings.
I hope these works bring you joy, and help you experience the beauty of life.
My paintings skillfully integrate calligraphic brushstrokes with blocks of color and geometry, presenting comic works rich with humor and wit. Behind the seemingly abstract forms, one can discern animals or human figures intertwined, creating whimsical, childlike imagery. Each picture tells a story that naturally evokes a smile.
Having devoted more than thirty years to creation, I have come to realize that art is an endless journey. Only through diligence can transformation take place. Along this path are traces of hardship and perseverance, yet also challenges and delightful surprises. Every work marks a new metamorphosis. With “paintings that speak,” my creations reflect a passion for life and a deep engagement with everyday experiences. You are warmly invited to share in this artistic journey.

About the Artist – Tseng Hui Chuan

He witnessed the golden era of the newspaper industry, producing a comic column for the Independent Evening Post for ten years, and won first prize at the Golden Eagle Comics Award. Around the year 2000, he was invited by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and the Neiwan Village Community Development Committee in Hsinchu County to participate in the Comic Revitalization Project, where he cultivated the concept of a “Comic Village” for many years. He later established his own studio and became well known for his distinctive comic-style portraits.
